
Five police officers who were involved in an incident with okada riders in Jos on Monday that resulted in the death of a young child have been detained, according to the Plateau state Police command.
The five (5) police patrol operatives were arrested and are being investigated at the Murder Section of the Plateau State Criminal Investigation Department Jos, according to the police public relations officer for the Plateau State Police Command, DSP ALFRED ALABO (SCID).
In a press release, DSP Alabo stated that CP Bartholomew N. ONYEKA, psc(+), the commissioner of police for the Plateau State Police Command, had denounced the assassination of the 17-year-old youngster who lived in the Agingi Village of the Bassa Local Government Area.

The kid (name withheld) was instantaneously killed when a stray bullet struck him in one of the storey buildings housing many shops far from the site while police were firing into the air to frighten and scatter the riders and gathering throng.
The police high command met with the deceased’s family and promised to bring those responsible for the teen’s death to justice, assuring them that the offenders would be properly probed and brought to justice.
Since then, law and order has been restored to the region, and security personnel have been increased to prevent any additional breakdowns.
