A community in Adamawa State’s Hong Local Government Area called Dabna shares a border with Borno State’s Hawul Local Government Area.

An eyewitness reported that the assailants arrived in the early hours of Monday, April 3, 2023, riding two motorcycles and firing intermittently.

Afolabi Babatola, the commissioner of police for Adamawa State, reacted to the situation by ordering the deployment of personnel for the quick capture of those responsible.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesman, said in a statement that the commissioner had given the go-ahead for the investigation into the attack.
The statement added, “The CP cautions that attacks on innocent souls would no longer be accepted under any pretext, as the command respects the lives of people sacred, and such unjustified attitude would be firmly dealt with in line with existing laws.

In the meanwhile, the attack was denounced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, in a statement released on Monday and signed by the SGF’s director of information, Willie Bassey.

The statement said, “The unjustified attacks and deaths in Dabna village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State by unknown gunmen have been strongly denounced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, CFR.”

“People in Dabna and the neighboring settlements, who are primarily agricultural, have lost lives, property, and means of surviving as a result of the repeated attacks.

“SGF applauds law enforcement for acting quickly to stop the attack from spreading to other towns.

He expresses sympathy to the Dabna Community, the government and residents of Adamawa State, as well as the families of those who lost loved ones in the disaster.
