The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Taraba State University has announced a complete, all-encompassing, and ongoing strike action.
To further hammer home their demands and the state government’s denial of claims that it is not owing employees salaries, the lecturers have declared a strike.
Their action is justified by the government’s failure to pay earned academic allowances, arrears on promotions, fractional payments of staff wages, and unresolved staff pension and gratuity plans.
Other causes of the strike action, according to Taraba State University ASUU Chairman Samuel Shitaa, include the failure to put agreements into practice and the institution’s perimeter fencing.
