The Lagos State Government employee bus driver will be charged after colliding with a train at the PWD railway crossing in Ikeja, which caused the bus to be dragged down the tracks with its passengers until it came to a stop at Sogunle, an Ikeja suburb in Lagos State.
Six people lost their lives in the terrible occurrence that occurred on March 9; 96 more people suffered injuries of varying severity. The injured people were treated at numerous government hospitals throughout the state.
Oluwaseun Osinbajo, the staff bus’s driver, was detained and sent over to the police for examination and potential state prosecution. After the investigation was complete, the casefile was sent to the D.P.P. for additional statutory measures.
A prima facie case of manslaughter and grievous bodily harm was uncovered against the driver of the Staff bus after the D.P.P. received and reviewed the casefile. According to a statement made by the state ministry of justice, Osinbajo will face charges for 10 counts of grievous bodily harm and six counts of manslaughter. According to the Ministry, both offenses are against Sections 224 and 245 of the Lagos State Criminal Code from 2015.
“The D.P.P. Office will press charges against the Driver right away.” However, due to the catastrophic injuries he incurred in the accident, his arraignment before the High Court of Lagos State shall be postponed till he is completely ready to face trial, the statement said.
