Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has disproved a false Twitter account that was used to make derogatory remarks about the governor of Zamfara State and the APC candidate for governor of Adamawa State.
Mustapha revealed this in a statement that Director of Information Willie Bassey signed.
He asked Nigerians to always confirm news stories before acting on them.
Boss Mustapha, CFR, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in his own words: “The attention of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, CFR, has been drawn to a fake Twitter handle with a fake user name dragged his name into making unsavory comments on the governorship candidates of APC in Adamawa and Zamfara States.”
For the avoidance of doubt, SGF wishes to state unequivocally that he does not own or operate any Twitter handle by such a user name. As a result, SGF requests that Nigerians ignore any disparaging remarks made on Twitter with such a user name against the individuals of the governor of Zamfara State and the governorship candidate of Adamawa State’s APC. He thinks it’s naughty of someone to exploit his name to create a phony user account.
In light of this, he advises Twitter users and those who reply to specific tweets to always try to verify the Twitter accounts before responding to any kind of message.
