The visit by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, to Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, has nothing to do with politics, according to Gboyega Akosile, his chief press secretary.
“Yesterday was truly a great day as I met with a man after God’s own heart, a guy who has dedicated his life to the service of God and mankind,” Sanwo-Olu had written in the caption of a photo of himself and Oyedepo that he had posted on his verified Twitter page on Tuesday. a man of God I hold in the highest regard and who is well regarded. the presiding bishop of the Faith Tabernacle in Winners Chapel and the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo in Ogun State’s Ota.
Some Nigerians responded to this by claiming that the governor had been visiting churches in a desperate attempt to win support before the poll on Saturday.
Nevertheless, in answer to a question about the visit’s purpose, the governor’s CPS, Akosile, was cited by the Daily Independent as saying on Tuesday that it was illogical to link Sanwo-visit Olu’s to politics because he had always made trips to Oyedepo when there wasn’t an election.
“No, the governor’s visit has nothing to do with politics,” Akosile retorted. You would have noticed that Governor Sanwo-Olu is a devout Christian if you had been paying attention to his activities. He is a man who cherishes relationships, particularly those with Church leadership.
“This visit is not an exception; he has visited Bishop Oyedepo numerous times in the past when there was no election.
“The Governor has great respect for Bishop Oyedepo because he is a man of God. His blessings and teachings from the scriptures have benefited him. Any attempt to connect the Governor’s visit to politics or the upcoming elections is absurd. It is not, though.
