Police in Niger parade 44 suspects of armed robbery, thuggery

No less than 44 individuals have been paraded by the Niger State Police Command, who are accused of committing a number of offenses such as conspiracy, armed robbery, thuggery, and possession of hazardous weapons.

The suspects were apprehended after a house-to-house search that was conducted in the Minna metropolis between March 10 and March 12 in a number of locations, including Limawa, Angwan-Daji, Paida, Gwadebe, Anguwan-Sarki, Ogbomosho road, and Kasuwan-Gwari, among others.

The Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, described the suspects while parading them as follows: “Following the recent report of miscreants’ clashes, thuggery, and pockets of tricycle robberies in parts of Minna metropolis, such as Stadium Junction, Limawa, Angwan-Daji, Bosso Road, Flamingo junction, Morris junction, and Barkin-Sale, the command yesterday

Abdullahi Ibrahim, 38; Abdullahi Isah, 31; Jibrin Musa, 30; Mohammed Sani, 30; Samaila Salisu, 35; Bashir Mukhtar, 28; and Kabiru Dahiru, 23 are the accused.

Other Limawa residents include Alhassan Adamu, 16, Isah Sidi, 15, Musa Abubakar, 18, Ahmadu Ibrahim, 20, Aliyu Ibrahim, 17, Musa Ishaq, 20, Sadiq Yau, 16, and Abdullahi Hassan, 20.

Musa Aliyu, 15, Aliyu Shafiu, 18, Aminu Bello, 18, Aminu Umar, 18, Nafson Awal, 18, Ismail Ibrahim, 25, Aminu Hassan, 18, Alhassan Mohammed, 15, Tasiu Usman, 17, Immurana Yahaya, 15, and Mustapha Aliyu, 18, are among those detained in Angwan-Daji as a whole.

The remaining suspects are Adamu Mohammed, 17, Mohammed Ibrahim, 19, Ahmed Musa, 20, Zarideen Basiru, 21, Aminu Bala, 16, Hassan Yusuf, 20, Tasiu Basiru, 20, Nafiu Mohammed, 22, Jamilu Saidu, 20, Saqiru Attahiru, 25, Yahaya Musa, 20, Abdulrahman Sani, 15, Abdulkarim Habibu, 20, and Abubakar Umar, 25.

Eleven cutlasses, four scissors, five knives, four swords, one garotte, five sticks, eight mobile phones, three shisha pipes or pots, a big saw, a scale, an iron bar, a bottle of illegal drugs, a lighter, a screwdriver, a bunch of keys, and ATM cards are just a few of the lethal items the police have found.

The police PRO said that the suspects have been given to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a covert investigation and emphasized that they will be charged and prosecuted in court.
