KANO — Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, the Action Democratic Party’s (ADP) candidate for governor of Kano State, stated over the weekend that the governorship election had been postponed till next week.
Sha’aban, who also serves as a representative for Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, insisted that he had not withdrew his candidacy as others have implied.
He said this during a Q&A session with a few chosen journalists from Kano-based radio stations.
Sha’aban claimed he is dedicated to running in the governor’s race, which is why he initially entered the campaign to compete against other candidates and with the goal of leading Kano and not quitting for anyone.
Since he is not the political godson of any organization and is therefore not withdrawing for any candidate, the ADP governorship candidate claimed that so far, indicators have revealed that he is the most qualified and prepared candidate.
According to him, it makes no sense to resign for candidates who are the godsons of certain well-known politicians.
Sha’aban, however, asserted that the state’s internally generated revenue, or IGR, will rise from 2 billion to 10 billion every month. His goal is to turn Kano into a major export center for goods like fish to the West and Sub-Saharan Africa.
