The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) said that the organization has no plans to target Lagos state or any other area.

This was said by the pro-separatist group in a statement released on Friday by Emmanuel Powerful, who serves as the group’s media and publicity secretary.

It told Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos, and all Yoruba people that IPOB has no plans to assault any area or tribe unless provoked.

According to reports, Powerful was responding to a claim made by a group going by the name of Delta Igbos that IPOB had allegedly sent a Special Squad to Lagos in order to sow mayhem.

But, the pro-separatist group asserted that because the IPOB is a non-violent organization seeking solely the freedom of its people through a referendum, it would never harm the Yoruba nation.

He said that the Igbo and Yoruba have made significant progress in their fight to free their people from oppression.

In particular, he urged Chief Gani Adams to “do all that is necessary to stop the so-called Delta Igbos and their sponsors in their tracks to avoid igniting a fire that will pitch IPOB against the Yoruba Nation agitators.” He also urged the governor of Lagos state, Yoruba traditional rulers, their opinion shapers, politicians, and Afenifere leaders to “do all that is necessary to stop the so-called Delta Igbo

The statement continues, “The movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), brilliantly led by our great leader, has captured the attention of the world family and unflinching liberator Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu KANU has been alerted about a group known as the Delta Igbos’ public assertion that IPOB had sent its Special Squad to Lagos in order to wreak mayhem.

If they hadn’t made it clear that they were collaborating with the adversaries recently inciting Igbophobia in Lagos, we would have dismissed this false information from these traitors.

“IPOB is not, and will never be, a party to Nigerian politics, for the avoidance of doubt. Members of IPOB cannot be utilized as political thugs since they have no interest in Nigerian politics. Until threatened, IPOB will never assault any group, individual, or tribe. Violence has never occurred during an IPOB rally anywhere in the globe.

However, IPOB issued a warning, saying that “those issuing these false warnings should be held accountable for the arson and destruction of Igbo properties. They are the representatives of the tribal bigots in Lagos who incite animosity toward Igbos.
