2023: I’ll grant local govts autonomy if… — Gawuna

Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor and deputy governor of Kano State, has vowed to provide local governments autonomy to operate in the state if elected.
Gawuna reportedly made this statement while participating in the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Network Program “The Ballot,” according to a statement by the chief press secretary, Hassan Musa Fagge.

According to Gawuna, who was mentioned by Fagge, “Local Governments are Integral Part of the Government and is the Tier Close to the People that Facilitates Even Development and Distribution of Resources and Services.

“I had complete freedom to run things while I was the chairman of the local government. If elected governor, I will return the favor because it helped us achieve so much success, said Gawuna.

The Deputy Governor further stated that he is the most qualified and prepared to succeed the outgoing governor of Kano State since he has worked with them and gained extensive knowledge. He also pledged to build on their accomplishments as part of a continuity strategy.

Gawuna meanwhile encouraged voters to refrain from violence and behave peacefully and orderly throughout the poll.
